The Colonial Chronicles: The Establishment of the Thirteen Original Colonies : Kingdom Rising 1699 - 1708

The Colonial Chronicles is an ambitious collection of historical fiction offering a panorama of characters and historical events of the English, North American, Colonial Period. The series chronicles the establishment of the Thirteen Original Colonies, spanning nearly a century and a half of people and events that shaped the initial foundation for the future United States of America. The series opens with the loss of Roanoke Colony in 1590, ending after the establishment of Georgia Colony in 1732. Part Fourteen opens with the Darien Project, a vigorous ground plan by the Scots to establish Stuart Towne, a Scottish colony in Panama, Central America. Funded by nearly a full quarter of all Scottish liquid assets supplied by wealthy investors and the recently established Bank of England, the adventure opens a full horizon of opportunities for Scottish placement in the New World. English King William III dies in 1702, causing a succession crisis in England when supporters of the deposed James II seek a Catholic for the English throne. Finally, Anne, daughter of the deposed king, living in French exile, ascends to the throne only to have the War of the Spanish Succession begin only several months after her coronation when news that French King Louis XIV accepts the Spanish Crown for his grandson, seventeen-year-old Spanish King Philip V. The same war extends to the English colonies as Queen Anne’s War, wreaking havoc on colonial economics, trade, and shipping. Simultaneously, the French plan to take over North America unfolds with planning, precision, and attacks on English colonists. The American colonial structure is strained as multiple colonial governors maneuver to find resident support from unhappy colonists, eager for self-rule with no assistance from the Crown to fight the new war. Colonial infighting also finds governors attempting to revoke other colonial charters for additional power and territory, while former political friendships collapse as politics rule the day. Slavery and its trade, yet in its initial stages, is slowed by the war, but colony assemblies begin to manipulate slave laws to reflect new societal conditions meant to assert control over others, while maintaining the gloss of a white English population, now sharing personal space with African slaves in their homes. Artfully So Gallery, New York City, expands significantly, and imports multiple Baroque Masters’ paintings and sculptures to the new art space after local European buyers are contracted to buy and ship to the gallery. Ephram and Nigel travel to England after Ephram is hired as an attorney assisting in the Union of England and Scotland. The Massachusetts Fauseth and Plover families enter into their fifth generations, while the Chatsworth family of Charles Towne begins its fourth generation.
